💡 We are constantly looking for strategists and strategy fellows across various levels of seniority and diverse backgrounds to join our impact-focused strategy consultancy and think tank

Please note that we are also very interested in people who don’t have a consulting background. Our work requires a higher amount of deep thinking compared to what typical consultants do so strategy researcher might be a title some people identify more with

cFactual is a newly-founded strategy consulting service and think tank that aims to have a positive impact by helping people improve the world and having a positive influence on important decisions, particularly in the EA meta and AI governance space (we are open to growing into other cause areas if that is your fit).

After running cFactual for a year, we have found high-leverage product-market fit for some of our target areas, are very satisfied with the current team and culture, have built enough financial runway to grow the team, and have several projects and ideas for new services in our pipeline.

If you are ambitious and driven, keen to grow and learn in a start-up environment, willing to reason through challenges deeply and independently, and have at least one year of experience at a leading strategy consulting firm or an effective altruism (adjacent) or other relevant organization, then you might be a perfect fit to join our team.

We are very excited about people joining our journey to either work on our existing projects or develop their own high-leverage offerings.

For more details about the role, its impact and how to tell if you’re a good fit, see below.

About cFactual

Overview

We aspire to be the world’s most positively impactful consultancy. We achieve this by making leading organizations across cause areas even better, and help unusually promising organizations that want to become more cost-effective. Our mission is to help clients improve the world counterfactually, by offering strategic decision-making, research and executional support. We think a core element to achieve this mission is to bring exceptionally talented people together aiming to see the world factually.

We work mostly on organizational prioritization and planning, theories of change and high-stakes project delivery. Typically, we red team and critique existing work, and act as a sparring partner for clients reviewing their strategy, or executing projects ourselves partnering with the client. For example, we are currently developing a grantmaking and fundraising strategy targeting tens of millions in cost-effective donations, red teaming a new AI governance talent program, and planning an internal re-organization of a large EA organization. Project examples include helping parts of the Centre for Effective Altruism’s events team prioritize their activities, coaching a co-founder of the Centre for Long-Term Resilience, and working with Effective Ventures on crisis response and their general strategy.

Please find here a detailed overview of some of our work and here an overview of the fellowship we run to help people test their fit for high impact consulting.

We are most excited about people who can think deeply and critically about altruistic impact, are entrepreneurial and drive projects independently as we are potentially excited for a new hire to own this area in the mid-term.
